What essential maintenance and preservation procedures must be implemented for metal hoses?
1. The optimal storage temperature should be ≥15°C but not exceed 25°C. Temperatures below 0°C may cause rubber components to harden. Prior to application, allow them to acclimatize to 15–25°C.
2. Hoses must be shielded from direct or reflected sunlight, as well as intense artificial lighting.
3. Avoid storage under extremely high/low humidity conditions; maximum recommended relative humidity is 65% RH.
4. Ozone severely degrades most elastomers. Never store hoses near ozone-generating equipment. In high-ozone environments, minimize storage duration.
5. Stored hoses shall not contact oils, solvents, or any corrosive liquids/gases/vapors.
6. Certain elastomers degrade when exposed to copper alloys, or (to a lesser extent) manganese/iron compounds. Prevent contact with these metals or materials treated with their compounds (e.g., copper-naphthenate coated wood).
7. Avoid creosote-impregnated timber. Do not store against PVC materials due to plasticizer migration risks.
8. Implement pest control measures where bacterial/fungal growth or rodent infestation is anticipated.
9. High-pressure hoses should be stored loosely coiled with minimal stacking height to prevent deformation. Coil-stocked hoses must rest on their winding plane. Large-diameter hoses require horizontal placement on flat surfaces – never stack, especially with fittings attached.
