PTFE bellows compensator (also known as expansion joint) is an industrial component. It is applied in pipeline systems carrying highly corrosive media to compensate for displacement caused by thermal expansion and contraction as well as installation deviations, and reduce vibration of the pipeline system.

Installation Precautions for Compensators

Install the compensator in accordance with the pipeline construction drawings and the installation manual of the compensator.

The pipeline equipped with the compensator shall be properly guided and anchored to ensure normal operation of the compensator. Guide brackets and fixed supports shall be installed strictly in compliance with relevant technical documents from the design department. Refer to the Bellows Compensator Installation Guide for installation principles of guide brackets and fixed supports.

The bellows of the compensator is formed from thin-walled stainless steel sheet. Avoid striking, scratching, striking an electric arc on, or exposing it to welding spatter during transportation, lifting and welding to prevent damage to the bellows.

Remove foreign matters inside the bellows and pipeline before installation to ensure free movement of the bellows.

For compensators with specified flow direction requirements, install them as per the direction arrows of the medium.

To keep the bellows in good working condition, do not use the deformation (axial, lateral, torsional deformation included) of the compensator to correct installation misalignment of the pipeline.

After the completion of installation and before system commissioning, remove all yellow-painted transport fixing bolts.
